I don’t profess to know everything, but I will acknowledge the things I care to know are the things that are important to me, and they are things that can help me succeed in the area of life which I now so passionately pursue.
“I don’t need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it”
~Albert Einstein
Sometimes the hardest thing for a person to do is to admit that they don’t have the answer to questions that aren’t asked; however, many people think they have the answer to every question asked. The beautiful thing about knowledge is discovering what you didn’t know was what you knew all along. While it’s true that we do not realize what we have until we lose it, it is also true that we don’t know what we’ve been missing until it turns up.
Isn’t it odd that most successful people, especially those who are in the movie industry, always seem to have their own political, social, and economic answers to all America’s issues? How can a person possess the knowledge to address other people’s issues when they do not seem to possess the ability to address their own? Actually, a person can inform others well, but they lack the inner strength to follow their own advice. This is normally the state of someone who is addicted to something.
I was asked some time ago a question about my opinion on the difference between a habit and an addiction. My answer was that both are customarily formed by the individual because they both have a point of beginning. One is based on brain memory, and the other is based on mental, physical, and spiritual necessity.
Habits are more easily broken than addiction. However, both of these can be forced but it will take more measures to break the addiction than it does the habit. A habit is an action or pattern of behavior that is repeated so often that it becomes typical of a person, although he or she may be unaware of it; somebody’s attitude or general disposition. An addiction is a state of physiological or psychological dependence on a potentially harmful drug or activity that causes harm to either themselves or others. Let’s assume pornography is a drug. The person who is addicted to something has a strong compulsion, craving, obsession, or an insatiable appetite for that thing.
People who are addicted to something usually see their problem as something small and easily controllable, but the truth of the matter is—they cannot control it. One protégé of mine confessed that he never realized that he had an addiction to pornography until he heard me speak. Once you are able to see it, believe me, you are able to break it. Small miracles occur regularly for those who find the belief that they can overcome. Learn to release everything within your mind and heart that does not serve you. Some habits are not worth breaking because not all habits are bad; nonetheless, all addictions need breaking.
Rather it’s a habit or an addiction, your ability to see it and recognize what it is and how it started empowers you to personally shut off its power. If you started it, you can end it. So take my advice, don’t try to psychoanalyze others before you first put yourself on the couch and psychoanalyze yourself. Oftentimes, the psychiatrist who counsels you on helping you discover solutions for your problem is under the care of a psychologist who is helping them deal with their issues.
As I said at the beginning, I do not know everything, but I know what I am passionate about. If I can help myself, I can help others as well.
Matthew 7:3-5 “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
